Introduction to Laboratory
Structural Mechanics Laboratory contributes mainly the teaching activities in the Civil Engineering Department. It provides support for basic concepts in structural mechanics through demonstrations which helps in developing students understanding in the related topics.
This includes: determination of Resultant of forces, verification of Hooke's law, sliding and Rolling Friction, Deflection of a straight beams, Determination of bar forces of a crane jib, Determination of forces in a basic Roof Truss, Friction on an Inclined Plane, Torsion of Bars, Shearing Force and Bending moment Apparatus, Static force experiments.
Course supported includes:
CE 201, CE 204, CE 309,

Force apparatus (Resolution of Forces) Demonstration of Resolution of Forces which is process of splitting up the given force into a number of components, without changing its effect on the body. |
Friction on an inclined plane Study of friction forces acting on the inclined
plane
