The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology organized a seminar on "Applications of Material Analysis Techniques in the Industry" on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Dr. Julio Lobo, Director/Co-founder of ProLab Systems, W. L. L. delivered the seminar.

Dr. Lobo began the seminar with a brief overview of the various material analysis techniques. He described the historical background related to discovery and applications of X-Rays. He further explained the physics behind X-Ray techniques like XRD and XRF and various industrial applications where these techniques are used especially in petrochemical and process industries. At the end as a case study he described the analysis of a meteorite found in South Africa using XRD and XRF techniques. This was followed by an extensive discussion and question/answer session.
