Jubail Industrial College is committed to the development of skilled work force for the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and contribute to the economic development and prosperity of the country. It has strong working relationships with both the commerce and industries in public and private sectors. The educational programs of the college provide a wide range of skills to enable graduates to meet requirements of these sectors. Emphasis is laid on gaining knowledge from practice which is based on theories.

      The cooperative training program involves placement of students in employment relevant to their academic and technical interests. During this the students spend a brief period in companies or industries to work there and receive training. It gives them ample opportunities to experience real working environment and enable them to apply some of the skills they had gained in the college. It helps them undergo a process of transition from intense class room training to the working life outside.

Program Objectives:

The student benefits from the program as:

• He gains some practical work experience before he graduates.
  
• He gets and exposure to a wide range of work situations.
  
• He develops an understanding of the relevance of his training in JIC to that is needed in the outside world, and may as a result feel more motivated towards his education in JIC.
  
• He gets an opportunity to market himself to a potential employer.

Time and Duration of the Training:

   All students are required to complete the cooperative training during a period of 15 weeks. This period also coincides with the time of a reqular semester in the college.

   The first 14 weeks of this is spent in actual on-job training in the company. The remaining one is utilised in preparing a report on the training under the quidance of the student's training supervisor and his college adviser. During this time the student still remains in the company but may be allowed leave to meet his college advisor, if needed.
