The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in particular the development of new refineries, petrochemicals, fine chemicals, minerals and plastics industries pose a considerable challenge for technician and technology education training. To meet this challenge, the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology is dedicated to offer post secondary education and bachelor programs and technology-based courses in the fields of chemical engineering, industrial chemistry and polymer engineering technology. The mission of the Department is to prepare young Saudi nationals to become competent, and to provide job oriented education which strengthens the technical background of the students, enabling them to meet their educational and career goals.
To accomplish this mission, the Department requires a combination of professional studies which balances theory, practical hands-on training and skill development in various programs of study.
The system of education adopted to provide technician/technology based training is in accordance with the American Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
All the programs are designed in collaboration with the industry and have the same fundamental aim: to provide a sound technically demanding and job related education to meet the needs of the industry. These programs feature outstanding faculty that brings a wealth of industrial experience to the academic atmosphere of the classroom and the laboratory. These are complemented by stimulating learning environment supported by modern state of the art lecture classrooms and well equipped laboratories.
The Department also plays an important role in developing the careers of practicing engineers, operators, technicians and other industrial trainees by organizing and delivering specialized programs and short courses.
