The Management and Information Technology (MIT) Department is the newest academic department in Jubail Industrial College (JIC). It is the foremost center of learning in Business and Information Technology stream at the JIC. It has received international accreditation of its programs from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in USA.

Rapid industrialization in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and advancement of trade and commerce has created new demands for Business and IT graduates along with other skilled technical manpower. These skills shortage are traditionally being met by expatriate work force. The MIT department has been engaged to meet this challenge of providing qualified and skilled manpower in Business and IT at the entry level for the different industrial sectors of the country.

The vision of the MIT Department is to become a leading business and IT education and training provider in the region. Its mission is to develop and deliver quality education and training program in Business and IT for regular students, trainees from industry and other sectors of the economy.

In fulfilling its mission, the MIT Department has established a set of objectives relating to curriculum, students, faculty and resources and achieves these by undertaking different departmental activities. These include: Teaching and Training, Examinations, Faculty Development Program, Intranet and Intranet, Co-operative Training Program, Student Advising, Asset Management, Media and Library Coordination, Computer Lab Maintenance, Career Day Participation, Curriculum, Development and Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Articulation Agreements, Outcomes Assessments, and Strategic Planning.

The MIT Department is primarily involved in teaching and training in Marketing, Accounting, Office Management and Information Technology and Systems Support (ITSS) subject areas. These Associate of Science (AS) programs is of three year duration with one year preparatory program. A 15-week Co-operative Training Program before graduation and visits by students to local industries provide the students the opportunity to interact with prospective local employers and also provide valuable work experience. The Industrial Advisory Committee which consists of three external members from local industry is involved in continuous curriculum review and development as well as in new program development and implementation matters.

The MIT Department also serves the academic needs of other engineering departments of the college by providing Management and IT/Computing courses relevant to the academic needs of their degree programs.
